Quotations of note: Mary Douglas quoting Steven Lukes quoting Benjamin Constant in Mauss

I was reading a late edition of Mauss’ ‘The Gift’ today with a preface by Mary Douglas who quotes Steven Lukes (1973) as quoting Benjamin Constant as having written one of the most beautiful passages I have read in a while.

‘When all are isolated by egoism, there is nothing but dust, and at the advent of a storm, nothing but mire.’

As of today, I have a discern that too many people do their own doing in all shapes of life without spiritual matters are dead people walking.
They don’t realize that life here on earth glory is only temporary and will be dust again . You stupid people ! Get understanding of who God the Almighty one and glory and fair and MUST Worship Him only . How? Believe Him and do good things to other people
