Gurrutu singing manikay in camp

This is a gorgeous snippet uploaded onto Youtube of my waku (ZS) and gathu (BS’s) performing ceremonial songs (manikay) at our subsidiary camp at night. Impromptu performances like this (in non-ceremonial contexts) are such special moments. They do not happen very often and depend on a critical mass of visiting kin in the same place at the same time (in a region where camps are considerable distances apart and often cut-off from one another during wet-season months), and of course on everyone being in an uplifted and empowered mood.
