Film based on Tolstoy’s last years released!

I’m looking forward to seeing ‘The Last Station’, a film based on the final years of Leo Tolstoy’s life, which opens this week in our dear State. Tolstoy was born into an aristocratic Russian family as Count Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy. He died in a railway station an avowed anarchist, an enemy of the Russian State and a famous novelist. From media reviews I gather the movie focuses on the latter years of his life, as they were characterised by the struggle of affection and attention, between his cult-like political followers close at home and his wife Sonya (mother of his thirteen children).

For those unfamiliar with Tolstoy his most famous works are – ‘War and Peace’, ‘Anna Karenina’, and ‘The Death of Ivan Ilyich’.
